Illustration, Art Direction, Cell Animation, Storyboarding

Created for Motion Collab

① STAY WITH ME 5~ SECOND SEQUENCE
Dan and I collaborated on a 5-second cel animation made up of 13 hand-drawn frames, designed to emulate the nostalgic, low-frame-rate style of 1980s and ’90s Japanese animation. The piece is part of a larger collaborative animation project featuring contributions from over 60 designers and animators.

Animated and co-directed by Daniel Filipe ↗︎

② PROCESS
We were given a color palette and a ~5-second song clip to work with, which challenged us to be intentional with every frame. With limited time, we focused on capturing the emotion of the music through the character’s expression and movement, ensuring each moment felt purposeful and in sync with the mood of the snippet. I started with multiple moodboards for the character and background respectively, and illustrated over 20 frames from sketch to final color.
